Chiefs fans were furious with a Ravens star early in the fourth quarter
THINGS at Arrowhead Stadium got a little too raucous for Patrick Mahomes’ liking against the Baltimore Ravens.
Early in the fourth quarter and with the Kansas City Chiefs leading by just three points in their eventual 27-20 win, the NFL season opener got feisty on Thursday night.

After a pump fake by Mahomes on third and three he ran the ball out of bounds for a four-yard gain.
However, Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith wanted a bit of the action, seemingly shoving Mahomes to the ground after he’d already crossed the boundary.
Despite immediately raising his hands and protesting his innocence, things immediately got feisty between Smith, Chiefs players, staffers, and his Ravens teammates.
Boos rang out around Arrowhead Stadium afterward, with officials having opted no to penalize Smith.
The noise from the furious Chiefs fans proved so loud that Mahomes was later forced to tell them to quieten down in order to hear plays being called through.
His pleas seemingly paid off as just two plays later, Mahomes connected with electric rookie receiver Xavier Worthy for a 35-yard touchdown pass.
The score by Worthy, combined with Harrison Butker’s extra point, gave Kansas City a 10-point lead.
But while fans in the stands had quieted down about the hit, the same couldn’t be said for those watching on from home.
“Roquan been playing dirty all night,” one fan tweeted.
“Shoulda been called, crazy that they didn’t,” said a second.

“This is blatant,” added another.
While, by comparison, a fourth replied, “He touched him, no extension of the arms. Total flop by Mahomes.”
After the game, Mahomes raved about the performance of first-round pick Worthy, who finished the game with 68 total yards of offense and two touchdowns.
“Just having him out there, it just opens up stuff,” he said.
“You saw when he’s out there, they’re playing shell coverages.
“It’s getting guys like [Travis Kelce] and it’s getting guys like Rashee [Rice] open underneath, and that’s what’s so great about this offense is we’re able to do all of that, and that’s when we’re at our best.”
Mahomes, who finished the game with 291 passing yards for one touchdown and one pick, also complimented the youngster for his “cool, calm, and collected” demeanor.
“You never even see the excitement on him, but he goes out there and makes plays,” he said.
“Obviously, we want to continue to use him more and more, but I thought he had a great day today, making big plays and big moments.”
Mahomes won’t have to wait long to keep building on his growing connection with Worthy with their next game already on the horizon.
The Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, September 15 at 4:25pm ET.
