Amirah plays basketball for Texas Southern University as a collegiate athlete. She had previously been a walk-on at LSU, her father’s alma mater.

O’Neal Shaqir, 20

Shaqir is a sports enthusiast as well. According to ESPN, the TSU forward pledged to “change the narrative” about historically Black institutions and universities during an interview with Overtime.

O’Neal Me’arah, 17

Me’arah O’Neal, the youngest of the O’Neal siblings, attends Episcopal High School and recently parted ways with CyFair Elite Sports, her after-school basketball program.

Me’arah posted pictures of herself on the court to Instagram to commemorate her departure from the Cyfair squad in July 2023. “It’s official over… “Really bittersweet man, I’m going to miss it ,” she captioned the photo. “Words cannot express how appreciative I am… Cyfair, thank you, I love you. 13 is out.”
